PROGRESS ON THE BUILDING WORKS

After the successful completion of the Space-Mission fundraising appeal, the building works on The Old Bakery began on 3rd January 2012.

The Old Bakery before building works began:

One week later:

The build began with the arrival of scaffolding around the entire building. Next in line was to remove the old, leaking and rotten asbestos roof from the building, leaving the entire upstairs level open to the elements! The old iron girder which can be seen halfway up the wall on the original photo is now being removed, which will stabilise the wall and allow new windows to be put in.

1 Feb: The old girder has now been removed and the wall surrounding it has been stabilised. The windows in the upper storey are now being replaced and the wall is being strengthened before the new roof is put on.

17 Feb: We have a roof! Most of the new slate is now laid over the Old Bakery, with insulation below to keep the new rooms warm and cosy in the winter (and not too hot in the Summer).
