Mission Accomplished - What
Visitors Have Said
Since
its acquisition in November 2004, everyone who has visited or used The
Mission Theatre has been wonderfully complimentary about many aspects of
its various spaces. Here is a selection of written comments and
reviews:
'Staged in the round (thereby bringing the
audience right into the heart of the psychodrama), none of the five-strong
cast would have been out of place at a certain Theatre Royal just down the
road.'
Venue (Review of Next Stage production of The Birthday Party) 2007
'The place is fairly buzzing with different
productions and as a place to gather socially and share a meal or just
chat…'
Evening Post 2006
'One of the region's best
companies, performing a mix of classics and edgier modern fare in a
beautiful theatre-in-the-round. Oh, and a friendly bar/bistro upstairs.
What more could you want?'
Venue 2006
'And if you don't support the relatively new
Mission Theatre - a great addition to Bath - then you're missing
something.'
Philip
Horton, Bath Chronicle - 8 Jul 2005
'I
so much enjoyed my visit to the Mission Theatre with Beemaster and
congratulate you on what has been achieved in a remarkably short period of
time. The determination to make the space work is all too evident
and I'm sure the Mission is destined to become a central part of the
cultural life in Bath. The potential is great and already the
results are beginning to show.
As
ever.'

'At the beginning of June we performed for
5 nights at The Mission Theatre in Bath as part of the Bath
Fringe Festival. We were fortunate enough to be reviewed on
the first night by the main Jazz reviewer in the area. He gave
us a great review which you can see on our website.
We
thoroughly enjoyed playing at The Mission Theatre - what a great
venue! The acoustics were superb. You could feel the
whole building vibrating in sympathy with the music. We would
like to thank Ann Garner and everyone at the Next Stage Theatre
Company. They made us feel very welcome.
If
you're in the area pop in to see a show or for lunch or even just
for a coffee in the bistro. The whole place has a very nice
atmosphere and will undoubtedly become one of Bath's main arts
venues.'

'I'm thrilled for them (Next Stage).
Theatre-in-the-round is an exciting medium - it's like having actors in your
living room with you, rather than sitting at the back of some huge cavernous
theatre with a pair of binoculars. It brings actors and audience back
together into the same room - a real shared experience.'
Alan
Ayckbourn in Venue article 14-23 January 2005.
