Singers on Sunday - FIRST EVENING

02 / 2009

Sunday 1st February saw the first of Peter Blackwood's Singers on Sunday evenings, introducing extremely talented young singers to The Mission Theatre audience.

In the first half of the evening's entertainment we were delighted by the outstanding voices of the four sopranos, Lianne Bidmead, Stephanie Fletcher, Missie Frank and Fiona Thompson, bringing us a well-balanced programme drawn from Richard Rodney Bennett, Argento, Offenbach, Bernstein and others. After an interval in which the audience enjoyed mulled wine and snacks from the bar, Anthony Sanchez performed for the second half of the evening with a beautiful rendition of Songs of Travel by Vaughan Williams. The accomplished Peter Blackwood introduced and played for the singers.

Despite a chilly night and the threat of snow, the enthusiastic audience in the Theatre Upstairs was reluctant to leave and all vowed to return on Sunday 15th March when the Singers on Sunday event returns.
