Summer Brochure 2010 available now

03 / 2010

This Summer, The Mission is proud to host an exciting mix of drama, comedy, dance, music and opera in a busy and varied season. Our programme begins in April with three different comedy acts performing as part of the Bath Comedy Festival. We then move on to a new musician visiting The Mission on 17th April, Kris Drever, who is already selling tickets rapidly. The end of April sees Mission regulars Stentorphon Opera return with another double bill of one-act operas, Susanna's Secret by Wolf-Ferrari and The Impresario by Mozart, which promises to be an excellent evening's entertainment.

May begins with an evening of musical numbers on Saturday 1st sung by the "Classic" Cappuccinos, performing arias and show tunes in the intimate atmosphere of The Theatre Upstairs. Resident theatre company Next Stage then perform David Mamet's hilarious and rapid-fire Speed-the-Plow from 11th-15th May. On Sunday 16th the theatre plays host to talented youngsters from Bradford-on-Avon performing all the greatest tunes from shows such as Oklahoma and Phantom of the Opera. 20th-22nd May brings dance company Novato Dance to the stage, displaying their talents in ballet, tap, hiphop, Irish dance and even the can-can! The month then ends with a visit from Movin' Melvin Brown, hailing all the way from Texas to bring A Man, A Magic, A Music - a journey through the history of African-American music accompanied with songs, dance and entertainment.

In June, we welcome the Off Street Players from Weston-Super-Mare to intrigue audiences with their "whodunnit" mystery, The Strange Case of Woodborough Hall. Next Stage then invite you to enjoy an evening of fine food and drama with Reflections, showing 17th-19th June - a trilogy of one-act plays considering three contrasting relationships. Finally Bath Opera bring Cosi fan Tutte and Samson and Delilah to The Mission for one performance each, so make sure you book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

July brings two productions from Next Stage - the adult company are performing Tennessee Williams' classic steamy drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof from July 6th - 10th, which is already receiving interest from audiences and corporate sponsors. And to finish off the season Next Stage Youth are showcasing their talents in Philip Ridley's Sparkleshark July 20th - 24th.

Full details of all these shows can be found in the new brochure which you can pick up from the theatre, the Bath Library, Bath Festivals Box Office and various businesses in the town centre. Alternatively, the brochure is available for download here.
