Dance delights at The Mission

05 / 2010

Last week, The Mission hosted local dance company Novato Dance's third annual show. This was the company's first visit to the theatre and was an exciting week for all involved as the dancers familiarised themselves with our backstage area and performance space. Dancing on specialised Rosco flooring provided by The Mission, the performers displayed a whole array of techniques from classical to contemporary. Of particular note was the act one finale, a large ensemble Bollywood piece with fantastic costumes adding to the visual feast. We also loved the fun and energy of the Can-Can, the amazing high leaps of the Ceilidh, and the thought-provoking contemporary movement piece "Normal?". And we have to mention the highly original and tongue-in-cheek "Vodka" - performed with the help of hula-hoops! The photos below were taken during the Saturday night performance, and more shots will shortly be available on the company's website www.novatodance.com. Congratulations to the dancers, backstage crew, stage managers, lighting designers and front of house team who worked together to produce a professional, impressive and popular show.
