In early July our resident company, Next Stage, completed a very successful run of the controversial but emotive play, Festen, based on the cult film of the same name. The company was particularly pleased to welcome the London producer, Marla Rubin, to the last night. It was she who persuaded playwright David Eldridge to turn the film into a play, which received enthusiastic reviews when seen in London.
Ann Garner, Artistic Director of Next Stage, was delighted to be the first non-professional company to be given the performing rights for the play.
