The Mission Theatre Autumn Brochure 2010

07 / 2010

We are delighted announce the launch of our Autumn Brochure. This is our busiest season ever, with events for drama enthusiasts, music lovers, children, Youth actors and those who are looking for something completely different! There is a show on every week from the end of August to mid-December, and includes a number of "firsts" for the theatre and for its resident company Next Stage.

The Company are bringing a whole season of Bath premiers to The Mission - a trilogy of plays written by up-and-coming new writers focusing on different stages of life, love and relationships. The Things Good Men Do is set in 20-something professional London, Happy Now? looks at the world of married-with-kids and Honour is the story of a couple in their 60s.

Next Stage is also producing one of its ever-popular Theatre Suppers, this time attempting to bring to the stage all of the World’s greatest novels in 90 minutes! A hilarious evening, plus delicious dinner, All The Great Books (abridged) will dispel the pre-winter blues.

In our packed Autumn season we are welcoming several companies to The Mission for the first time. Instant Wit from Bristol are bringing their slick and hilarious improvised comedy; Fatt Cat Productions are collaborating with Curtain Up to bring a new one-act bedtime story for youngsters; Thrice Three Muses are an up-and-coming drama group who are performing a new play in The Theatre Upstairs and Flamin’ Dames are talented singers who have recently appeared in London.

Next Stage Youth are trying their hand at something new as well – musical theatre. All through the Autumn term the youngsters will be learning to sing and dance in order to put on a riotious version of The Dracula Spectacula in December. Following productions of Sparkleshark and Daisy Pulls It Off this summer, it’s going to have been a busy year for our talented Youth company, which now has over 50 members – enrolment on October 3rd at 5pm at The Mission.

The Theatre is celebrating the return of the Bath Festival of Children’s Literature now in its 4th year, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Festival’s Write Team are using the theatre as a creative writing hub for young writers and performers during the week days, and then both weekends are full with activities for all ages. Have a look at the "Coming Events" pages on this website for full details.

We also welcome back popular groups Women on the Make, Dorset Corset, Platform 8 and The Bath Gilbert and Sullivan Society with drama, comedy and operettas, and Darren Dutson-Bromley, Johnny Coppin and Richard Ingham bring music and a little festive spirit.
