A lively opening weekend at The Mission Theatre saw visits from Dennis the Menace and
Kipper. Delighted children and their parents were entertained by author Rachel Elliot and illustrator Barrie Appleby as they recounted and drew the latest antics of Dennis the
Menace.
Later on Saturday 20th September, Kipper came to the theatre and played games
and entertained the children, along with Liz Fost and illustrator Nick Inkpen. A packed
programme
of activities
included popular events such as Shopping with Dad, supported
by Festival
sponsor Barefoot Books, Wild About Animals with Nicola Davies and Farmyard Friends,
with Clare Beaton.
On Tuesday 23rd September, The Mission played host to over
30
babies, toddlers and accompanying adults, who delighted in songs and games in a lively
session: Bookstart Rhymetime.
The second weekend of the festival saw The Mission Theatre humming with babies meeting the Bookstart Bear, toddlers enjoying dancing with Peter Rabbit, "fairies" making wings and receiving flower wands from the Flower Fairy and "Princesses" meeting the author Caitlin Matthews of the Barefoot Book of Princesses. In the last event at the theatre boys and girls alike thrilled to the legends of King Arthur at the Knights Workshop led by John Matthews author of Arthur of Albion
If you visited The Mission Theatre during the festival we hope you enjoyed the entertainment and the facilities. We certainly did and we are already looking forward to the next fesitval where we hope to see you again!
