This weekend saw the start of The Third Daily Telegraph Bath Festival of Children's Literature. As in previous years a number of events and guest authors and illustrators have been hosted by the Mission Theatre. On Saturday and Sunday excited youngsters were taken on imaginative journeys to meet Dinosaurs, Dragons and Monsters as well as Stripy Horse, Elmer and Rabbits. They were shown how illustrators create many of the attractive pictures which bring their favourite characters to life and were given sneak previews of the latest stories from some of the most exciting children's authors including Ian Whybrow, Jan Fearnley, Thomas Docherty and Emily Gravett.
A definite high spot in the proceedings was the arrival of Elmer the patchwork Elephant celebrating his 20th Birthday with a scrummy birthday cake which all enjoyed. Happy Birthday Elmer!
Look out for more exciting sessions next weekend especially when The Stig and Peter Rabbit (amongst others) drop into The Mission!
