The Mission's new Spring brochure has now been launched across the city, and promises an exciting season of drama, music and opera. January marks a particularly exciting time for The Mission as it is five years since the theatre first opened its doors, for a Next Stage production of "Comic Potential" by Alan Ayckbourn, a patron of the company. To celebrate this milestone, Next Stage are proud to present a celebratory production of "Time of My Life", also by Ayckbourn, from January 26th - 30th. This brilliantly entertaining play opens, appropriately, at a Birthday party and promises to be a celebration you won't forget.
Next Stage are also producing a Theatre Supper for Valentine's Weekend - John Godber's "September in the Rain" is being performed February 11th - 13th. This witty and perceptive two-hander is a celebration of the richness range and reassurance of a long-term love, and is the perfect way to relax with your Valentine. Finally, the company end the season with Ronald Harwood's "Taking Sides" from March 23rd - 27th. In the aftermath of the Second World War, the victors determine the guilt or innocence of leading German citizens - more notable Willhelm Furtwangler, possibly the greatest conductor of his generation.
We are delighted to be welcoming the Bath Spa University Opera Project to The Mission for the first time, presenting Mozart's "Don Giovanni" from February 17th - 20th. This production has students working on all aspects - design, marketing, technical production and acting - and promises to be a fresh take on this classic opera.
WildThymeMusic are bringing a whole host of famous performers to The Mission this season - from the ever-popular Julie Felix on February 24th, to the internationally successful rock band The Acoustic Strawbs, to chart-topping Beverley Craven on March 2nd. Music lovers are sure to find something to suit every taste in WildThyme's week of concerts from February 21st - 27th - and for those of you who missed The Churchfitters this season, they are returning to The Mission on February 2nd.
This Spring sees the return of Bath University Student Theatre, following their sold-out production of Agatha Christie's "Spider's Web" two years ago with another of the dame of crime's classics - "And Then There Were None", March 4th - 6th. We also welcome back Peter Blackwood's fantastic Singers on Sunday for three concerts, and Richard Ingham's The Amazing Street Cred Band on March 13th - both guaranteed to give you an excellent night's entertainment.
Full details of all these shows can be found in the new brochure which you can pick up from the theatre, the Bath Library, and various businesses in the town centre. Alternatively, the brochure is available for download here.
