A musical end to the season

12 / 2009

The last productions in The Mission's Autumn programme were a rich variety of music and performance. The Gilbert and Sullivan Society once again delighted full houses with their Old Time Music Hall on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th December. The Mayor of Bath came to join the festivities on Thursday night and enjoyed an evening of music and entertainment on a Christmas theme, and many members of the audience rose to the occasion wearing dress of the era and all their festive finery.

Saturday aftenoon brought train enthusiasts to The Mission for a showing of railway films. The event, organised by WildThymeMusic, proved popular with enthusiasts who enjoyed film shots set in and around Bath, as well as films of train journeys set further afield.

That evening, WildThyme hosted a sold out concert by Johnny Coppin, Paul Burgess and Mick Dolan - "On A Winter's Night". This Christmas concert had been attracting interest since July and the audience was not disappointed. The Mission sparkled with Christmas decorations and the music matched the mood entirely - Johnny's melodic folk songs, all on a Christmas theme, were masterfully performed by this professional trio.

The season came to an end on Sunday night, with a late addition to the programme. Richard Ingham, of the Amazing Street Cred Band, and local poet and musician Paul Feldwick brought their very own "Christmas Pudding" of poetry, prose and music to The Theatre Upstairs. The programme was extremely entertaining with an excellent choice of pieces professionally performed by Richard and Paul. The audience enjoyed mulled wine and delicious cakes before being treated to a live performance of Richard's Christmas single - "Rock Santa's Reindeer". A rousing finale to this delightful evening, and also to a very busy and exciting year of performances at The Mission.
