Presented by Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society

Wednesday 25th - Saturday 28th September at 7.30pm

Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society present A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams’ popular masterpiece. Considered one of the finest plays of the 20th Century, this Pulitzer Prize winning play was made iconic by the 1951 film starring Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh.

The play tells the story of Blanche DuBois, a Southern Belle who, after encountering a series of personal losses, seeks refuge with her sister and brother-in-law in a dilapidated New Orleans tenement. As Blanche’s fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister, Stella, for solace, but her downward spiral brings her face to face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski. It’s a story spanning the realities of life, from passion and power to betrayal and mental illness, including references to sexual violence.

Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society, one of the most acclaimed amateur companies in the region, brings this much-loved play to the stage.

Please note this performance refers to themes of an adult nature.
