Five Weeks Which Seemed Ages

  • The Mission Theatre 32 Corn Street Bath, BA1 1UF United Kingdom (map)

Presented by The Blank Slate Ensemble

Wednesday 3rd June at 7:30pm

It is the summer of 1857, and Charles Dickens, novelist, performer, and master of passive aggression, has a problem. Hans Christian Andersen arrived at Gad's Hill Place five weeks ago. He is still here.

The Danish houseguest is most unusual; he writes poetry in the nude, he speaks to his own creations and he is by all accounts, blissfully, catastrophically happy. All that will change. The Dicken’s family have had enough, and so have all the other residents of Gad Hill. Upstairs, permanent and peculiar lodgers Miss Havisham and the Swedish Nightingale Jenny Lind are hoping he clears off and the house is restored to order.

Nobody is leaving. Nobody is asking anyone to leave. So the chaos continues. And Andersen's fairy tales are, somehow, starting to come true…

Join The Blank Slate Ensemble for a seventy minute romp through fantasy and fiction, where actual history collides with absurd comedy.
