Rigoletto

  • The Mission Theatre 32 Corn Street Bath, BA1 1UF United Kingdom (map)

Presented by Tessitoura

Thursday 14th May at 7:30pm

Rigoletto is one of Verdi’s most thrilling and emotionally charged operas. Set in a world of power, cruelty, and hidden tenderness, Verdi's score lays bare the cost of corruption and the devastating consequences of love twisted by fear and control.

At the heart of the drama is Rigoletto, a court jester whose sharp wit masks a desperate attempt to protect his daughter, Gilda, from the brutal world he serves. When mockery turns to vengeance and innocence collides with exploitation, events spiral toward a tragic conclusion.

Driven by a score of extraordinary power and beauty, the opera moves from glittering wit to profound emotional darkness, and includes the instantly recognisable “La donna è mobile”.

Founded in 2010, Tessitoura shares the joy and excitement of opera through unique and intimate performances. Accompanied by a chamber orchestra, the company creates an operatic experience with a strong sense of connection between performers and audience.
